Here is the list of after school clubs for the Autumn term.

Clubs will commence week beginning Monday 16th September and will run for 10 weeks. Clubs will finish Friday 6th December and there will be no clubs w/b 14th October.

All clubs will run from 3.30pm - 4.30pm (Except production which will run until 4.45pm)

Where numbers are limited, places will be allocated through a draw process. If for any reason, your child will not be attending a club session during the term, please inform the school office in advance as this will save you receiving a phone call or text message asking about attendance.

If you wish to apply for a place for your child, please complete the survey below by 4.00pm on Wednesday 11th September. You will then be sent a text on Friday 13th September with details of whether your child has been allocated a place.

Please only sign your child up for a place if they will attend.

Applications open for Hampshire residents on Monday 9 September 2024. You can apply online at hants.gov.uk/admissions. You must apply to Hampshire County Council even if you wish to apply for schools in another local authority.

If you do not live in Hampshire (including Portsmouth and Southampton) you must apply through your home local authority.

 

 

The deadline for applications is midnight on Thursday 31 October 2024.

It is very important that you submit your application by this date. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered until after all on-time applications have been processed, which means late applicants are less likely to be offered a place at one of their preferred schools.

Measles

 

You may have seen the news regarding the rise in cases of measles in London and the large outbreaks in the West Midlands.

 

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has now declared a national incident in order to focus actions to limit the spread. Further outbreaks of measles will spread to other towns and cities unless urgent action is taken to increase Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccination uptake in areas at greatest risk. Children who get measles can be very poorly and some will suffer life changing complications.

 

To support this incident the Department of Education (DfE) has published: What to do if you think your child has measles and when to keep them off school guidance for parents and for schools.

 

UKHSA have stated that measles is not currently circulating in the south-east, there are cases in London and a sustained outbreak in the West Midlands (specifically Coventry and Birmingham but now in all local authority areas in the region) but at the moment in the SE, rashes are more than likely to be for other reasons (particularly in children). However being prepared is important.

 

Winter Bugs

It can sometimes be hard for parents to know the best way to help children recover from winter bugs. Healthier Together has been developed by local clinicians and gives simple advice on how to help them get better at home. The app will also help you to spot the signs if it is something more serious and guide you to the right help.

Following our very successful visit to Avon Tyrrell Residential Centre, near Bransgore last term, a provisional booking has been made for 4 nights from Monday 14^th – Friday 18^th October 2024 for our current Y4 year group.

 

This visit will allow children to explore the countryside, take part in a range of activities and will also provide them with the opportunity to experience life away from home.

 

Avon Tyrrell is a fantastic venue for a residential and we have now led many enjoyable visits there. It is secure, and comfortable, and provides the children with an atmosphere, unlike any other residential centre.

 

In order to help you decide if you would like your child to attend, we would like to invite you to a meeting in the Hall on Wednesday 31^st January at 3.30pm where you will be provided with more information regarding cost, payment dates and activities.

It has been amazing to see so many children enjoying the after school clubs each day.

All other clubs finish at 4:30pm and collection is from the school playground at the end of clubs. 

 

Please can we remind everyone to label all clothing, if labelled and lost we aim to return to the children's class, otherwise lost property is situated in the school foyer.

 

Monday morning football returns- Monday 9th January at 7:45 am, please send your child in school uniform and they can change here for the club. 

 

Breakfast Club runs every day from 7:45, and this can be booked using the booking form NMJS Breakfast Club - New Milton Junior School. The cost is £4 per pupil per session and this can be paid via ScoPay.

If you are willing and able to hear children read in school on a weekly basis, please meet Mrs Grinyer in the hall on Friday morning at 9.00am. There will be a short meeting covering the practicalities of volunteering.
